There’s nothing brighter than sunflowers in spring and summer! We have collected a mix of our favourites – from the gigantic russian giants over 2m+ tall, to the multi-headed, dwarf and dainty. A must-have in every garden.
Size: A surprise mix of giant, small or medium. Great in large pots or grow bags.
Sowing: We sow our sunflowers in punnets first and grow them big before planting out so they are not bothered by pests. Check out our corn seed sowing guide for a free and easy trick for sowing into individual punnets. You can also sow direct in spring or summer once the risk of frost has passed. Young seedlings will need protection from snails and slugs.
Planting: Plant ideally in full sun, but also will do well in part-shade. Tall sunflowers may need some support to avoid leaning or toppling.
Uses: After harvest of your sunflower heads, the seeds can be fed as a treat for your chooks and birds, and you can even munch on the larger ones yourself!
